LADWP is warning customers about an increase in scam calls that falsely threaten immediate water or power shutoffs. Scammers often demand payment through cash apps, prepaid cards, or other unofficial methods. LADWP does not request payment in this way and does not make shutoff threats over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact LADWP directly at 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397) to verify your account. You can also check your billing status by logging into your LADWP account online. If you believe you have been targeted, LADWP encourages you to report the incident through their website or to local law enforcement.
